About Foreign Post

Foreign Post is a satirical news outlet that covers American events with the dispassionate detachment and exoticizing flair typically reserved for reports about faraway, “unstable” nations.

In that spirit, we translate American politics, culture, and crises into the tropes, tones, and turns of phrase long favored by Western media when analyzing them: the Global South, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and anywhere else “over there.”

Here, the U.S. is the foreign country. The strongman speaks at gilded resorts. Militias roam the heartland. Power changes hands amid procedural chaos. And democracy remains, as always, “under threat.”

We are not foreign correspondents. We’re just domestic ones writing like it.

Our Mission

To report on American dysfunction with the same breathless concern, anthropological curiosity, and bemused detachment typically applied to non-Western nations, highlighting the absurd double standards baked into international journalism.

Why We’re Doing This

Because when a former president suggests suspending due process to deport millions, it’s not just a policy position — it’s something we’d call a human rights crisis if it happened anywhere else.

Because our elections are sometimes described as “free and fair” — and increasingly, that’s a question, not a given.

Because if you have to ask, “Wait, is this satire?” the answer probably says more about the state of the country than it does about us.

What You’ll Find Here

  • News Coverage of U.S. politics reimagined as international dispatches

  • Profiles of American figures rendered like reports on autocrats and warlords

  • Explainers of domestic phenomena with condescending clarity

  • Analysis on how American exceptionalism looks… from the outside

Foreign Post isn’t about left or right. It’s about looking at the U.S. through the lens it often uses on others. And if that lens seems distorted, maybe it always was.
